Project approach

Visiting a child, returning to campus, meeting a future collaborator: the reasons people come to The Study shaped our approach to its films and photography.

Crystal Arnette and I co-directed the work around the anticipation of those visits. Natural light, small gestures, and the rituals of a stay gave the rooms a sense of the people using them.

Across the wider campaign, I help develop the editorial approach and plan shoots around the properties’ university and community relationships. Interviews with artists, architects, and local partners connect the hotels to the people who shape them. Production planning considers how that material will work across social, advertising, and the website.

The ongoing location shoots typically operate with two or three people. Cinematography collaborators across the wider body of work include Nate Taylor and Zachary Rockenstyre.
